Forensic Evaluations

Legal concerns can be extremely stressful, and often, individuals are asked to complete a variety of requirements by the court.  I offer evaluations for a variety of legal concerns including DUI and substance abuse evaluations, adult guardianship evaluations, as well as custody and parenting concerns.

Please be aware that (in most cases) the cost of forensic evaluations is not covered by health insurance and the cost will be out-of-pocket.  In addition, there may be a circumstance in which Dr. Escott is called to testify in court regarding the results of a forensic evaluation, which may result in an additional fee.

DUI & Substance Abuse Evaluations

DUI & Substance Abuse Evaluations are generally Court Ordered and consist of a set of comprehensive questions designed to determine whether the offender meets the diagnosis of substance abuse or addiction, or has misused the substance that led to the arrest.

Please bring the following required Information with you to your appointment:

  • Any legal document that contains data of your arrest including the BAC or refusal
    police report
  • Driving history obtained from the court
  • Copy of photo ID or drivers license
  • Print out of all previous offenses (if any)
  • BAC or Lab Work Results (if applicable)
  • Any forms that require completion by the examiner for the purposes of the court.

Reports are generally prepared within 1 week.

Adult Guardianship Evaluations

Guardianship evaluations may be necessary in several circumstances:

  • For  families whose son or daughter is turning 18 (or older than 18) and may require a guardian to assist with decision making due to developmental disability such as Autism or Intellectual disability
  • For families whose parent or sibling has diminished cognitive capacity due to aging, dementia, stroke, or other injury or event.

Dr. Escott provides private, professional and personal attention in assessing whether your family member needs to have a guardian.  Reports are generally prepared within 1 week.

Note: the cost of guardianship evaluations is occasionally covered by health insurance and sliding scale fees are available for this particular service on a need-based schedule.
